Finding support from peers with similar lived experiences is vital to healing. I have lived experiences with bipolar II depression, attempted suicide and suicidal ideations, complex PTSD, panic attacks, anxiety and receiving inpatient care as well as managing chronic medical issues. I come from a toxic family system and have survived severe childhood abuse and domestic abuse in romantic relationships. The pivotal point in my healing journey was when I was hospitalized with suicidal ideation at age 33, then hospitalized again after a suicide attempt at age 35. Along with clinical depression, I struggled with panic attacks and anxiety from complex PTSD as well as ongoing abuse from my toxic family system. I thought I wouldn't live past age 45 until I found support from trauma-focused talk therapy and peers at age 40. Peers understood and believed me and were living proof that a different life was possible. These experiences inspired me to walk with others on their healing journeys.
