As someone in recovery from alcohol use disorder, I can provide a judgement-free and trauma-informed space for any challenges you may be facing as a result of active addiction, long-term sobriety, abuse, and generational trauma. I was raised by a mother who struggled with substance abuse, and I was walking in her footsteps until I hit my rock bottom, after eight years of abusing alcohol. A drunken car crash resulted in my state's Child Protective Services removing my daughter from my care when she was two. As catastrophic as that was at the time, I can now look back with a sense of gratitude for the event that led to the start of my recovery journey. I was so full of shame and self-hatred in the beginning, but my support system helped me learn to refrain from negative self-talk. My hope is to pay it forward by empowering others with similar struggles, or simply offer a listening ear.
